At Findlay Dental Group, our dentists and team are devoted to helping you maintain the strong, healthy smile you have always wanted. To help us accomplish this goal, we typically recommend that you visit our office at least once every six months for your professional prophylaxis (cleaning). These examinations and cleanings are extremely important to assess any potential disease or problems. If we notice a condition that could lead to potential difficulties, we will recommend the appropriate treatment. As with most medical conditions, dental problems are usually easier to treat if they are detected and treated soon after they develop.

During your dental examination, our team will:

  • Remove any plaque or tartar from your teeth. Gum diseases like gingivitis are caused by plaque and tartar (hardened plaque), and tartar can only be removed with specialized dental tools.
  • Examine your teeth, gums, and soft tissues to check for problems such as tooth decay (cavities), gum disease, and cancerous lesions. At our office, we perform oral cancer screenings using the VELscope oral cancer screening device.

While we recommend at least one visit every six months, we may suggest that you visit us more frequently depending on the results of your exam. If you suffer from a dental emergency, please contact Dr. Lewis immediately. If you have any questions or would like to schedule your next teeth cleaning in Findlay, Ohio, we invite you to contact us today.
